Flip ART

Wow your friends and family with a rotating four panel art show! This magic, illusion is easy and fun to create. We HOPE you enjoy it!

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Four 3-1/2”x3-1/2” panels with your own unique drawings.
We have included a downloadable template for your use (see link below).

  • You can make the squares a different size but the smaller they get the more difficult it is to fold.

  • Do not use thick paper because it will not fold well.

  • Scissors

  • Glue or 2-sided tape

STEPS

  1. Cut the four panels (with completed artwork on them) in half as shown in the diagram with scissors (two horizontal cuts and two vertical cuts). Fold every panel to create the fold lines  (see diagram). Having carefully placed fold lines is important for the rotation of the panels.

  2.  Lay the first panel face down and flipped as shown. Apply glue to the four corners. Don’t apply too much or the glue will expand beyond the intended area.

  3. Place the second panel on top of the first panel. Press down on the corners to secure the glue.

  4.  Fold the side panels backwards.

  5.  Apply glue to the corners and middle (not the middle sides).

  6.  Place the third panel on top. Press down on the corners to secure the glue.

  7. Flip the top and bottom panels to the back.

  8.  Apply glue to the entire area that is facing up.

  9.  Place the third panel on top. Press down on the corners to secure the glue. Rotate through the four panels. The more times you do so, the smoother the flow will be.
